Here’s a poem to challenge you to prioritise your self care and overall well-being!

When last did you give yourself a treat? Do that thing which gives you joy. For me, its finding free time to read a good book, or booking a full body massage.

For you, it may be window shopping, cooking your favourite meal or just making out time to watch a movie. When last did you do what you love.

When last did you make out time for self-care. A pedicure, manicure, hair care, skin care, personal body checks, Oral hygiene, sight test and all those reminders we often ignore. Life has no duplicate, we need to invest in our inner beauty and outer beauty. As the saying goes, you cannot pour from an empty cup.

When last were you intentional about yourself. When last did you appreciate yourself and seek ways to keep improving on yourself Psalm 17: 8 is no joke. You are indeed the apple of Gods eyes, you are special, you are loved. God took his time to create you the way you are. So, when last did you look in the mirror and hype yourself with words like I am beautiful, I am smart, I am favoured, I am the best as a person, wife, husband, father, mother, sister, brother, friend, boss, colleague…the list is endless.

When last did you have a good laugh…feel the joy from deep within. Oh yes, I know we live in tough and uncertain times but, we have a God that loves us and has promised to never leave or forsake us. So sometimes…no, all the time, just surrender all to God and look for the beauty around you…in nature, the change of seasons, your family, your job, in reaching out and helping others, and fill yourself with joy and the peace that passes all understanding that the days ahead will be better than the days behind.

When last did you spend quality time with family, children, friends. I know we have to work , sometime multiple jobs to meet up with the bills…but quality time is an important investment. Several years from now, will you be surrounded by those you invested your time with relieving beautiful memories …or with your medals, awards, cash and loneliness.

When last did you make that phone call. No one is promised tomorrow. Please keep in touch with family and friends…your nearest and your dearest. Live a life free of bitterness, free of malice, free of assumptions and accusations. Learn to disagree to agree. Each day comes with its own uncertainties…let go of unnecessary burdens; live light and free.

When last did you say No. No is a good answer too. Even Jesus said no to some appointments and took out time for a retreat every now and again. I always remind myself, if I can’t help this time, God will definitely raise other helpers to meet that need.

When last did you practice delayed gratification; Saying no to your wants, you don’t really need that bag, shoe or make that payment for that concert or trip. In Gods time, all things will be beautiful and Affordable!

Oh my dear friend, when last did you… I hope the next time you hear when last did you, you would smile and say..I did!, I have ticked as many boxes and I am constantly working to be the best version.

When last did you…?
